What is Greens Beach like?
It is relatively undeveloped which is part of its charm. There are about 300 houses with a population of 500 which swells to 2000 in the holiday periods.
What facilities are available at Greens Beach?
Facilities are limited to three businesses. The Greens Beach Shop provides a wide variety of goods and services including petrol. The golf club has a bar which is open seven days. The caravan park has camping sites and cabins available for overnight or weekly stays. Public BBQ's are available. There are two tennis courts for hire.
What facilities are available nearby?
Beaconsfield is a twenty minute drive. It has the gold mine, three pubs, supermarkets, butcher, doctor, pharmacy, post office, hairdresser, newsagent and service station. For excellent coffee and toasted sandwiches call into Tamar Valley Wholefoods, say hi to John and Penny and meet some of the locals. Restaurant and pub meals are also available in Beauty Point which is a ten minute drive from the beach.
Are we likely to see native animals?
Wallabies, wombats, possums, quolls and bandicoots are common in the boobialla scrub and local streets and gardens. Tasmanian devils are often seen on the roads between Beaconsfield and the beach. Drive to the end of the main street, take a glass of wine to the lookout in Narawntapu National Park at dusk, and enjoy the stunning seascape (pictured right)and abundant wildlife.
